Inform Yourself
Learn about the dangers of extreme heat in India — how it affects your body and how trees in public spaces, in your yard, or on rooftop terraces can provide cooling for you and your community.
Many native trees have additional benefits:
Clean the air and water by filtering pollution.
Provide healthy, free fruit such as mangoes.
Support local biodiversity by offering shelter and food for birds and pollinators.
Create community spaces for gatherings, cultural offerings, and spiritual connection to nature.
Ask your parents, grandparents, a local guru, or search online to discover the cultural and ecological value of trees in your area.

Plant Trees
You can plant trees yourself — or reach out to us for help. We aim to provide trees free of charge to communities, depending on our funding. A single mid-sized tree costs about $4 USD / ₹350 INR.
Trees make wonderful gifts for friends and family — and after just 3–4 years, some may start providing free mangoes! The more trees planted in a locality, the greater the cooling and environmental benefits.
Tips for rooftop trees:
Choose resilient, fast-growing native species — your tree vendor can recommend the best options. We’re also happy to advise.
Prune regularly so trees don’t get too heavy or unstable during storms.
Use small planting bags or lightweight plastic pots — ceramic pots may be too heavy for some roofs.
Place trees in the corners of the terrace for stability and safety.

3. Spread the Word
Encourage your teachers to talk about urban heat and trees in class.
Share our materials on social media — or create your own local version of ReGreen Banaras. Imagine ReGreen Delhi or ReGreen Jaipur!
Work with schools, spiritual centers, health clinics, and community spaces to create “cool islands” with trees, earthen pot water, and — if needed — air-conditioned rooms.
We’ve had great results partnering with spiritual leaders to build cool, welcoming spaces for everyone.
